Day 1
Colle dei Salati - Gnifetti/Mantova Refuge
3 to 3 ½  hours
Departure from the Valley of Gressoney either by ski lift or jeep to the colle dei Salati.  We  leave by foot along an easy path which takes us towards the Indren Glacier. We cross over the glacier and arrive at the Gnifetti refuge (3647mt) or the Mantova refuge (3500mt). This choice is based on availability and client preference.

Day 2

Gnifetti Refuge - Piramide Vincent – Gnifetti Refuge

4 hours

Depart refuge.  We head up the incredibile Lys Glacier until we reach the colle Vincent.  From here we leave the main route, turn right and head up the mountain without any technical difficulty.  This route take us to the top of the Piramide Vincent (4215mt).  Descent to the refuge.

 

Day 3

Gnifetti Refuge – Parrot – Ludwigshohe – Balmerhorn – Gnifetti

5 hours

Depart refuge, ascend the Lys Glacier until we reach the colle del Lys (4248mt), from here we continue to the colle Sesia and then via a crest of snow we arrive at the summit of the Parrot. We head back down to the colle del Lys and from here via an easy crest we reach the summit of the Ludwigshohe (4322mt). The descent takes us under the Corno Nero where we use a small ferrata which takes us to the top of the Balmerhorn (4167mt) where we find the Cristo delle Vette (a bronze statue of jesus).  We head back down to colle Vincent  and return back to the refuge via the route we came.

 

 

Day 4

Gnifetti Refuge - Punta Gnifetti/Capanna Margherita 4559mt

4 hours

Depart refuge, ascend to the colle del Lys and then continue on passing under the north face of the Parrot.  We arrive at the colle Gnifetti and then at the Capanna at 4559mt where we willl spend the night in the highest refuge in Europe.

 

Day 5

Capanna Margherita – Zumstein - colle dei Salati

5 hours

From the refuge we head down for approx 20 min to the base of the Zumstein( 4454mt), from there we go up for approx 30 min and then back down across the Lys Glacier to the Gnifetti refuge, then on to the colle dei Salati to retake the lift or jeep and descend back to the village.
